plan of God is that we might be so in Him that we will be equaany occasion."Beloved" (1 John 4:1). That is a good word. It means thatare now in a place where God has set His love upon us. He waus to listen to what He has to say to us because when His beloare hearing His voice, then they understand what He has for theGod is dealing with us as sons; He calls us "beloved." We arthe truth, but we want to know the truth in a way that will keefree. (See John 8:32.) I want to help the people who have beetroubled with voices and with things that have happened that thave felt they had no control over them. And I want to help thwho are bound in many ways and have been trying in every waget free. The fourth chapter of 1 John tells us specifically how towith evil powers, with evil voices. It tells us how we may be abldethrone them and be in a place where we are over them. It shus how we may live in the world not subject to fear, not subjecbondage, not subject to pain, but in a place where we are defeaevil powers, ruling over them, reigning in the world by this lifChrist. In this way, we will be from above, and we will know it.will not be subject to the world, but we will reign over the worlthat disease, sin, and death will not have dominion.A keynote that runs through the entire Scriptures is thatsus has vanquished and overcome all of the powers of the Devilhas destroyed his power, even the power of death. Whether wegoing to believe it or not, this is for us. God sends out the clenge, and He says, "If you believe it, it will be so."What will hinder us? of God makes us strong. All evil powers are weak. "Young meare strong because you know the Word." (See 1 John 2: 14.)Where do thoughts of evil come from? They come from tclean believer, the man who is not entirely sanctified. Remthat the Devil does not know your thoughts; that is where theis held. that the gift of tongues was never in evidence before the HSpirit came. The old dispensation was very wonderful in prophutterances. Every person, whoever he is, who receives the HSpirit will have prophetic utterances in the Spirit unto God orhuman language supernaturally coming forth, so that all the pewill know that it is the Spirit. This is the reason we want all the people filled with the HSpirit: they are to be prophetic. When a prophecy is given, it methat God has a thought, a word in season, that has never beeseason before-things both new and old. The Holy Spirit brithings to pass!So when God fulfilled the promise, when the time waspointed, the Holy Spirit came and filled the apostles. The gift thad never been in operation before came into operation that wderful day in the Upper Room, and for the first time in all oftory, men were speaking in a new order; it was not anlanguage, but language that was to be interpreted. This is profound because we recognize that God is speakNo man understands it. The Spirit is speaking, and the Spopens the revelation that they will have, without adulteration.Tongues are a wonderful display of this; they are to revivepeople; they are to give new depths of thought. If you ever want to know why the Holy Spirit was greneeded, you will find it in the third chapter of Ephesians. Yoube amazed. The language is wonderfuL Paul said that he was "least of all the saints" CEph. 3:8), yet God had called him to b"minister" (v. 7). His language is wonderful, yet he felt in his hand life that there was something greater, that the Spirit had hand he bowed his knees unto the Father (v. 14).516

c;;gift, unless the unction of the Spirit is upon you. Unless yoadhere to this word, every assembly where you are will be brokup, and you will cause trouble. Until you come to a right undestanding of the Scriptures, you will never be pleasing to God.You have to be very careful that you never use tongues aninterpretation in confusion with prophecy. When prophecy is goiforth and the truth is being heard and all the people are receivingwith joy and are being built up, then there is no room for tonguor interpretation. But just at the time when the language in mheart seems too big to express, then tongues come forth and Glooses the whole thing, and we get a new purpose in that.So you who have this wonderful gift of tongues must see tothat you never break in where the Spirit is having perferight-of-way. But when the Spirit is working with you and yoknow there is a line of truth that the Lord desires to express, thelet the name of God be glorified. You see, God wants everything to be in perfect order by thSpirit. That is why Paul said, "If anyone speaks in a tongue, lthere be two or at the most three" (1 Cor. 14:27). You will never finme speaking if three have spoken before me. And you will nevfind me interpreting any word in tongues if three have spoken aready. This is in order to keep the bonds of peace in the bodythat the people will not be weary, because there are some peopwho have known nothing about what is right.Unless you come to the Word of God, you will be in confusioand you will be in judgment. God does not want you to be in confsion or in judgment, butwants you to be built up by the Scritures, for the Scriptures are clear.518

1V\ts·7lt-\ \ . rl.,.someday the church will so completely come into its beautythat if I am preaching and you have a revelation on that very thing,a deep revelation from God, and if you stand, I will stop preachingat that moment. Why? Because the Scripture says that if, when aprophet is speaking, anything is revealed to someone in the audi ence, let the first hold his peace and then let that other one speak. Then the Scripture says, "For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged" (v. 31). This refersto the one who is preaching. He may be led to hold his peace whileone in the midst of the congregation speaks his line of thought thatis divinely appointed; then, after he finishes, another may have aprophecy, and he may get up, and so on, until you may have severalwho have prophesied and you have such revelations in this mannerthat the whole church is ablaze. I believe that God is going to helpus so that we might be sound in mind, right in thought, holy injudgment, separated unto God, and one in the Spirit.Allow me to say this, and then you judge it afterward. You arenot in the right place if you do not judge what I say . You are notJ,o,.swallow everything I say; you ari:Jo judge everythi!!g I say by theScripture.§.:. But you must always use righteous judgment. Right 'eous judgment is not judging through condemnation, but it isjudging something according to the Word of God. In this way, thechurch may receive edification so that all the people may be builtup according to the Word of God.Perhaps not everyone will affirm what I have to say about this. However, I truly believe, because God has revealed it to me, thatthe words "Let there be two or at the most three, each in turn" (v.27) mean that often the speaker will not have finished his messageafter giving the first insight. So often I have seen in an assembly of520
