The study found OwensCommunity College generated 708.3 million in Lucas, Wood andHancock counties when factoringthe College’s operations spendingcoupled with spending from currentstudents and alumni.The 708.3 million economic impactproduced by Owens is equal toapproximately 2.1 percent of thetotal gross regional product (GRP)in the Owens service district, or theequivalent of creating more than10,500 new jobs.In fulfilling its mission through thedecades, Owens has responded tolabor market needs. The Owens nursing programhas been chartered as the Pi Chapter.The purpose of Alpha Delta Nu is torecognize the academic excellence ofstudents in Associate Degree Nursingprograms, to encourage the pursuitof advanced degrees and continuingeducation as a lifelong professionalresponsibility and to promote therecruitment of qualified individuals intothe profession of nursing.Gamma Theta Upsilon is aninternational honor society ingeography. Members must achieve a3.0 GPA in geography. The mission ofGamma Theta Upsilon is to advancegeography as a cultural and practicaldiscipline for study.Kappa Beta Delta is the businesshonor society that recognizes academicexcellence for students in appliedbusiness technologies and businessadministration transfer programs. Tobe a member each student must achievea GPA of 3.5 or higher. Members can berecognized by their royal blue stoles.8Spring Commencement 2021Phi Theta Kappa is the InternationalHonor Society for two-year collegestudents across all academic disciplines.Students are inducted into the AlphaOmega Pi Chapter on the Toledo-areaCampus and Beta Xi Chi Chapter onthe Findlay-area Campus based upontheir remarkable scholarship of anoverall GPA 3.5 or above, and leadershippotential. Members can be recognizedby their gold stoles and gold tassels.Psi Beta is the National Honor Societyin Psychology for Community andJunior Colleges. Psi Beta was foundedfor the purpose of stimulatingknowledge and recognizing students’scholarship and interest in psychology.Sigma Phi Alpha is a National HonorSociety for dental hygiene students.Sigma Phi Alpha was founded in 1958 torecognize the highest achieving studentsin dental hygiene programs throughoutthe United States.The Owens Honors Program is achallenging and enriching educationalopportunity for exceptional studentswho strive for academic excellence.Honors Scholars successfully completecritical thinking and great readingscourses and nine credit hours ofadvanced, independent study with a3.5 GPA or higher. Student Government provides studentswith dynamic, on-campus leadershipopportunities. Elected annually by theirpeers, Student Government membersrepresent the student body and take anactive leadership role on campus issues.These graduates are wearing red and bluecords which represent their advocacy forfellow students through leadership inStudent Government.The Service Scholars program recognizesstudents who receive exposure tocommunity engagement initiativesthrough designated service activities,service learning courses and selectedon-campus involvement.
