Spiritual Growth PlanWeek 1Benjamin Franklin said “if you fail to plan, you are planning tofail.” How true that is. Our spiritual life and growth should be one of themost important aspects of our lives. Why would we not have a plan forthis area of our lives like we do other areas of life? If you are seriousabout growing closer to God and strengthening your faith, then Ichallenge you to follow through with this spiritual growth plan for thissemester. Give it a try for one semester and then decide for yourself if ithelps you grow and if you want to incorporate it in your life for years tocome. There are five parts to the spiritual growth plan.1. A Friend Plan2. A Reading Plan3. A Prayer & Fasting Plan4. A Church Plan5. A Service PlanI commit to carrying out thisspiritual growth plan on a daily basis in order to grow closer to God andstrengthen my faith.SignatureSpiritualDateMy heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God- Ps. 84:2Growth Plan1

Spiritual Growth PlanWeek 1The Friend PlanWho your friends are is vitally important to your growth as aChristian. Take a moment and think about those you spend the mosttime with and who you consider to be close friends. This includes thoseyou are dating. Be honest in your evaluation of these people andrelationships.A friend that encourages spiritual growth is one who you canopenly communicate with about spiritual things. The Bible, church,Jesus, and prayer are a common subject and topic in your conversation. This person encourages you to read your Bible, pray, attend church, andserve the Lord. You are not the one who has to always bring up spiritualconversation.Serving SizesIdentify and list your friends that help your spiritual growth:A friend that hinders your spiritual growth is one that scarcelytalks about spiritual things in conversation. This person does little ornothing to encourage your reading of the Bible, prayer, and attendingchurch. You are always having to bring it up and when you do it is quicklytalked about and then moved on to other things.Spiritual Growth PlanWeek 1The Friend PlanNow that you have identified who your friends are and their helpor hinderance to your spiritual growth, what are you going to do? Youdon’t have to drop the ones that hinder you like a bad habit, but youneed to reconsider how much time you will spend around them. If youare serious about your spiritual growth, the majority of your time is goingto be given to being around those who encourage your growth. Theseare changes you will have to make. Now you need to establish an accountability partner. This is aperson who you can meet with weekly to go over your spiritual growthplan for that week. This needs to be a person who you consider as a helpto your spiritual growth. It does not have to be a friend. It can be anyonewho you feel will be honest with you and will encourage you along theway. It needs to be someone who is willing to commit to meeting withyou or doing the spiritual growth plan together. This is a person who willbe strong enough to hold you accountable to your plan. That means yougive them permission to ask how things are going and challenge you todo better if you are failing some. Make sure they understand their roleand are willing to commit to taking this role. Pray about who this personshould be.My accountability partner is:Identify and list your friends that hinder your spiritual growth:The Reading PlanIn this 18 week plan, you can read the entire New Testamentthrough by reading just two chapters a day.
