She wasnamed among Boston’s Most Influential Women by theWomen of the Harvard Club, El Planeta’s Top 100 MostInfluential Hispanics in Massachusetts and Get Konnected’s100 Most Influential People of Color in Boston.During 2017, the Hunger Team accomplished front-lineand policy goals that catapulted the Hunger Initiativeforward. Highlights included the inaugural conveningof the Voices of Hunger, a state-wide gathering ofhigher education practitioners to share best practicesin basic needs services and policies. The convening isnow rotating annually to the public colleges, furtheringawareness, practices and momentum.Before joining the Baker-Polito administration, Acostagained respect as a financial and banking serviceprofessional. She has more than 30 years of experienceat Greater Boston financial institutions, and has served inmany community and civic capacities.The Hunger Team is also participating in a research grantwith the Wisconsin Hope Lab to examine the link betweenfood security and college success. Equally important isthe Hunger Team’s support of policy work in tracking thefirst-ever Food Insecurity study undertaken by the FederalGeneral Accountability Office, to be completed in earlyFall 2018. The study will provide data for analysis and toground future policy work.Born in Cuba, Acosta came to the United States at theage of four. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from WesleyanUniversity in Connecticut where she was a member ofthe Women’s Varsity Ice Hockey Team. She is the proudmother of five children.3

Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Societygraduates are denoted by a “º” symbol in the program.During the Commencement Exercises, you will noticethe gold tassels which distinguish the caps of somecandidates for the associate degree. These students, thehonors graduates of the class of 2018, have consistentlydemonstrated high academic achievement whileattending the College. The Hunger Team comprises a group of College faculty and staff who advocate for immediate and long-term solutions to food insecurity for Bunker Hill Community College and other institutions of higher education. During 2017, the Hunger Team accomplished front-line and policy goals that catapulted the Hunger Initiative forward.
