President’s MessageThoughts from President Scott StephensContinuing to Impact GreenvilleLaw Enforcement and Career DayOur Rotary Club has made a big impact on the Greenvillecommunity for the past 101 years. While we haven’t built another Textile Hall, Camp Sevier, orFurman Gymnasium (yet), nonetheless we have worked to be a positive influence in the lives of thepeople of Greenville. At our February 13th Rotary meeting, we will be recognizing those public servants who provideprotection and service to our community. Our annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day givesus all the opportunity to publically acknowledge the professionals of the city, county, and stateagencies who impact our lives every day. Every year since 1976, Rotary Club of Greenville hashonored those individuals who have been recognized by their peers for outstanding service.Another annual event hosted by our club is Career Day. Career shadowing and mentoring hasbeen provided by leaders in our club to Upstate high school seniors every year for over thirty years. Our Career Day provides a great service to the young people in our community!Related to Career Day, one of the more memorable stories I’ve heard is one Rotarian Wade Kolbtold a few months ago. While doing a job interview at Duke University last year for his law firm,Wade met a young girl from Greenville who had just completed law school. In conversation, sherevealed that she gives credit for her career choice to Rotarian Jason Elliott and our Career Dayevent. What great feedback as to the impact our Career Day event makes on young lives! If you’reinterested in sharing your expertise with seniors during our Career Day event, contact RotariansJoan Burket or Jeff Bullock. Our Rotary Club has hosted these two wonderful events for years. As a Rotarian, you should beproud of the impact that both have on people in our community!Make plans to attend both events .better yet, bring a friend to Rotary as a guest to see theimpact we as Rotarians make in Greenville.Scott Stephens, PresidentThe Rotary Club of Greenville meets every second and fourth Tuesday at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in beautiful Downtown Greenville.
