With that beingsaid, it is time to talk about the Ohio State Grange DartballTournament sponsored by Knox County Granges that is opento all Grangers in all 88 counties in Ohio. On April 4,2020 the Ohio State Grange Dartball Tournament will be playedat The Fredericktown Schools Administration building, 117Columbus Road, Fredericktown, Ohio. The Captains’ meetingwill begin at 9:00am and the tournament will begin at 10:00am.Every Ohio Grange is encouraged to put a team togetherand participate. How is Dartball played? Today’s American styledartball is modeled after our American favorite pastime sportbaseball. The dartboard is a 4-foot square board whichresembles a baseball diamond with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, home base, foul ball, outs, and strike areas on the board. For Dartballboard height it must be 54 inches from the floor to the centerof the board. The 6 ½ inch Apex No.2, 3 or 4 feather woodendart is used in all competitive matches with a pitching distance(the line from which you throw the dart at the board) of 20feet. All darts must be thrown underhanded. As in baseball, each team takes a turn at “bat”, the other team takes thefield during the 9-inning game. Each team gets 3 outs. As inbaseball, a batter can advance a runner around the bases toscore a run. The team that scores the most runs at the endof 9 innings wins, or at the end of overtime innings shouldboth teams be tied at the end of 9 innings.Team Makeup: These rules apply specifically tothe April 4, 2020 Ohio State Grange Dartball Tournament. Each team will consist of 7 to 9 players.Format for Tournament play will be a 2 divisionRound Robin Tournament. In past years, the tournament hasbeen completed by 2:30pm.Lunch & refreshments will be available during thetournament. How do I sign up? Hada wonderful time with Youth in January. We toured the OhioState Courthouse, had lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse, thenwent Roller Skating. Such a good group of young people. Soproud of them. I look forward to spending time with them atSummer Camp. I love investing in our future. Also lookingforward to the overnight at the State Office with theJuniors.here we go.Had wonderful meeting at the new hotel.MarriottNorthwest, in Dublin. The Directors were able to look at therooms they would use, and we were able to have lunch andtaste the food. Yum! I think everyone will be impressed.Had Ron Hogue attend an Agriculture meeting for us.hegave a great report at the hotel. Thank You Ron.Jim and Karen Laker came to the office, and wedecided to overhaul the Deputies Association.we will bemaking quite a few changes. It will all be explained at ourDeputies meeting in May at Sugarcreek. The meeting willbe for Deputies ONLY, no Officers or Directors. This willbe a real working meeting.be prepared, I may give youhome work.(Ha.Ha)I am getting ready to go to the Masters Conferencein Baltimore, Maryland, looking forward to hearing somegreat ideas like last year. All the great conferences are coming up, make sureyou send in your reservation early. There has been some confusion about what can beannounced in Grange Family emails.it MUST be a familymember or a Deputy to give the info; reason being.a deathnotice was given to us by a well meaning member, but, theperson wasn’t dead. That sort of mix up is beyond oops.Hope everyone is well, and living the dream. As always, if you need me call or email. Since thisis Martin Luther King Jr’s. Month, I’ll give his quote again“If I can not do great things, I can do small things in agreat way”Did You Know?If the Earth rotated on an axis perpendicular to theplane of its orbit around the sun rather than on a 23.4º tilt, there would be no variation in day lengths and no variation inseasons.3

This would allow the Food and DrugAdministration to provide appropriate oversight of purity, potency standards and costs. Also the controlling of ecigarettes and vaping including the same restrictions astobacco use. This doesn’t mean this is all we are working on,but as you go out and talk with the public, these are our mainfocus for the Ohio State Grange. Your local Granges havemany good ideas and we encourage you to do what is bestfor your Granges.Lastly; I do encourage you to start your resolutionsfor our upcoming convention. The sooner we start on them, the better and stronger our mission and Grange becomes.Have a great spring and see you on April 18.Margaret Ann Ruhl,Legislative DirectorThese months are going to be a very busy time forus. These are the months that we get to see everyone at themany one day events sponsored by the various committees.Legislative is no different as I have planned a very interestingand hopefully informative day. Mark you calendars and planto attend the Legislative day on Saturday, April 18 from 9:30a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Der Dutchman Restaurant inBellville. Not only do I have a great day planned, but there isa buffet to eat from, starting with pastries in the morning tothe grand buffet for lunch. I am excited about our morningspeaker, whom I haven’t heard before, but I believe to bevery good speaking about Active Shooter Training. Barelyone day goes by that we don’t hear of an active shooterentering a school, church or mall and we need to know whatto do to protect ourselves. I have scheduled a Deputy fromLicking County to come and talk in the morning as a Grangemeeting is a good example of where an active shooter maycome next. I have scheduled State Representative MarkRomanchuk from Ontario to come speak about legislationpassed or pending at the State House and then we will do ashort presentation on writing resolutions. We will try to makeit informative and entertaining.Speaking of legislation, I want to remind everyone,if you don’t already know from the television ads; we havea primary election on March 17. Regardless of your politics,it is very important to voice your opinions at the polls. I havebeen told many times, if you don’t go vote, you don’t havethe right to complain about what laws are being passed ordiscussed. You can do absentee voting or the polls are open6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., which are long days for the pollworkers, so you as a voter can make it an easier day bybeing respectful to them as they are only instructed to makeit easier for you to voice your opinion of the future of ourcountry, state and local government. You passed a resolution at the convention for me tomeet with the executive committee and come up with thetop three issues that the State Grange will be working on in2020. We have met and we have decided, based on yourrecommendations, Agriculture, Communications andHealth Care. The Grange will work on agricultural education andthe preservation of farmland to help save agricultural farming. We all know agriculture is the number one business in Ohio. The Grange will be working to improve the communicationsin the rural areas by promoting rural broadband and telephonecommunications. This is including rural landline repairs andwireless connections. The Grange will also be working onmedical costs and pharmaceutical manufacturers withWant to win 10!ONE WINNER WILL BE DRAWN FROM THEMarch - AprilOHIO GRANGERFind the gavel hiding in an article in thismagazine (not including this form) and youcould win 10.JUST FILL OUT THE FORM AT THE BOTTOMAND MAIL TO:Ohio State Grange16303 Village Parkway, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019WINNER WILL BE DRAWN FROM ENTRIESRECEIVED WITH THE CORRECT ANSWER.Entries must be received byApril 1, 2020Winner from the January - Februaryissue of The Ohio Granger is:Doris J. We are protected because of the way our solar systemwas created. There is nothing that moves me more than music toexemplify the scripture and what is described in this devotion! Please listen to the Moody Church Choir’s singing of “TheMajesty and Glory of Your Name” based on Psalm 8:1 - 9which says “ O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your namein all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise[2] because of your enemies, to silence the foe and theavenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of yourfingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man thatyou care for him? You made him a little lower than theheavenly beings [3] and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you puteverything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beastsof the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, allthat swim the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, howmajestic is your name in all the earth! www.youtube.com/watch?v MQ TVelOZ7AThis devotional is a combination of writings by severaldifferent folks including Remi Oyedele ((Our Daily Bread)and the Institute for Creation Research and was adapted forthis writing. Our Sun Is Perfectly Located Within Our GalaxyThe spiral-shaped galaxy in which the earth is located is calledthe Milky Way. The spiraling arms and center of this galaxycontain many stars set close together, giving off itscharacteristic brightness. Some stars explode into supernovas, causing deadlyradiation to flow through nearby stars and planets. The centerand arms of galaxies are flooded with high amounts ofradiation. Most stars are located in places with too muchharmful energy for life. Our solar system is located about two-thirds of theway out toward the edge of the Milky Way, where we areleast likely to suffer collisions with other stars. Most of thestars in our galaxy are in the larger spiral arms or in thecenter. Because there are few stars near us, there is a lowamount of radiation surrounding our solar system and wecan observe the rest of the universe and our own galaxymuch better. Our Planet is Perfectly Located Within OurSolar System.Scientists know our planet is precisely the rightdistance from the sun to benefit from its heat. A little closerand all the water would evaporate, as on Venus. Only a bitfarther and everything would freeze like it does on Mars.Earth is also just the right size to generate the right amountof gravity. Less would make everyone weightlessly sterilelike our moon, while more gravity would trap poisonous gasesthat suffocate life as on Jupiter. The intricate physical, chemical, and biologicalinteractions that comprise our world bear the imprint of asophisticated Designer. We catch a glimpse of this complexcraftsmanship when God speaks to Job about things beyondour understanding. “Where were you when I laid the earth’sfoundation?” God asked, “Who marked off its dimensions?Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone?”Job 38:4 - 6The earth’s huge moon also protects us from manyof the rocks that cross our planet’s path. The craters acrossthe moon’s surface demonstrate the frequency somethinghas collided with the moon instead of earth. The moon’s SouthPole—Aitken basin—is the largest known crater in our solarsystem. It is eight miles deep and 1500 miles across. Theearth’s moon is unusually large. In addition, our huge moonis a stabilizing anchor for our planet.
