CHRIST AND SAINT LUKE’S CHURCHSACREDMUSICI NASACREDSPACE2019/2020 season

WELCOMEIt is a privilege to present the 2019/2020 season of Sacred Music in aSacred Space. Now in our eighth season, we are proud to bring someof the finest musical offerings to Hampton Roads. This summer, the Choir represented Norfolk on its fifthinternational tour. During our first week in scenic Wells, England,we sang services in the historic Cathedral Church, dating to the 12thcentury. We then headed to St. Martin-in-the-Fields in busyLondon for Choral Evensong. After sightseeing in London andParis, we sang at the American Cathedral and the church of St.Eustache in Paris. We thank you for your prayers and support! We are proud to continue offering excellent music in our beautiful space. Our ParishChoir and Choristers go from strength to strength — in addition to Sunday services andmajor church festivals, there are chances to hear them in concert, including ourRemembrance concert on November 3 and our Advent Lessons & Carols on December 1.We are thrilled to have our organ back after a 15-month restoration project — it soundsbetter than ever! We are grateful for your support, which will make this instrumentaccessible for future generations. If you haven’t had a chance to hear it, internationalconcert organist Nathan Laube will be here on September 13 to play it in grand style. Finally, we continue to strengthen our community bonds by offering our space to localmusicians, including the Virginia Chorale and the Norfolk Chamber Consort. This year,we are pleased to offer concerts by the U.S. Army School of Music and the Men’s andWomen’s Glee Clubs from the U.S. Naval Academy. With the military presence inHampton Roads, I cannot think of a better collaboration for our community. We hope that you will enjoy this season’s offerings and support our mission to offerSacred Music in a Sacred Space!Kevin KwanOrganist & Director of MusicFRIENDS OF MUSICJoining the Friends of Music is a great way to support Sacred Music in a Sacred Space.Parish members and non-members alike are invited to contribute to the operating costsof running a series of this scope.
