A CARING, PRAYING PRESENCEInMemoriamSister Concepta Marie NudoNovember 1, 1926 – May 25, 2018Adapted Remembrance given by Sister Betty Jean HaverbackWhere, oh, where does one start with such a FULL LIFE of 91 years and 71 years as a Sister of St.Francis of the Immaculate Conception for our dear Sister Concepta Marie Nudo? Perhaps the bestplace might be with her endearing, ever-faithful roots: her NUDO family. She told her parish priestwhy she wanted to be a sister: “I want to give my life to Jesus first and make the sacrifice so thatall my family could be together in heaven one day.” As early as her fourth grade, Sister persisted inpraying to fulfill this strong desire and earnest prayer to become a religious Sister. After her highschool years here in Peoria, she returned to her beloved Springfield for her novitiate formation, oneblock from her homestead—a challenge and a blessing! Care for her beloved Mom was a real privilege—many stories, sharings and visiting with extended families took place over those years.Over the 71 years, Sister served as sacristan and sewed many an altar cloth and church accessories. She always delighted in making God’s sanctuary as beautiful and special as she could. The other highlight of her talents was her “Blue Ribbon” pies at the fairs. Her contributions to our two cookbooks would indeedshow her life’s compassionate presence of Christ. Her other passion was selling our yearly ornaments; she seemed born to be asalesperson!Sister was full of gratitude, always generous to remember our families, the workers, delivery men, her friends and their families, with rolls, cookies, candies or flower arrangements. There never seemed to be a time she would have someone leave her sidewithout her thankfulness and “God Bless You.” Sister Concepta Marie radiated the Franciscan spirit of hospitality, joy, simplicity, and ongoing faith and prayer in all seasons.Pray As the Sisters PrayMinistries: Sisters of St. Francisof the Immaculate ConceptionRADIATING CHRISTby Cardinal NewmanDear Jesus,Help me to spread Your fragranceeverywhere I go.Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.Penetrate and possess mywhole being so utterly that all my life mayonly be a radiance of Yours.Shine through me and be so in me that everysoul I come in contact with may feelYour Presence in my soul.Let them look up andsee no longer me – but only Jesus!Stay with me, that I shall begin to shineas You shine,so to shine as to be a light to others;the light, O Jesus, will be all fromYou; none of it will be mine; it will be Youshining on others through me.
