Direct Support ProfessionalJob DescriptionA Direct Support Professional (DSP) provide direct care including activities of daily living (ADL),monitoring and maintaining safety, assisting with activity goals according to the Activity SupportPlan (ASP). This position answers directly to their Medicaid Staffing Supervisor at Embassy HomeCare.EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent must be kept in personnel file. This includes a waiveredfamily member or friend providing servicesRESPONSIBILTIES1. Follow established Policies and Procedures of Embassy Home Care.2. Assist with personal care.3. If a family member or friend is waivered into the program, the responsibilities are the same as aDirect Support Professional (DSP)4. Encourage individuals to be active, to participate in recreational therapy and activities of dailyliving.5. May transport the individuals into the community but not during the entire service period.6. Keep environment safe and clean for individuals.7. ADSP worker is not allowed to perform duties outside their scope of practice. For example, DSPworkers are NOT allowed to give the individual 's medication or provide feedings through a gastrictube or PEG tube. These things MUST be done by the guardian.
