Growing Young is aninitiative developed from a study released byFuller Seminary (Pasadena, CA) that found250 churches who have intentionally and successfully engaged young people in their ministries. Based on research, Fuller Seminary leaders developed a strategy that congregationscan implement to attract and retain youngpeople- spiritually, numerically, and missionally. While Growing Young is geared towards ministry with young people, specifically ages 15-29,it is truly for the entire congregation. As ourcongregation engages in ministry together,we will see a shift that focuses on God’sdaily abundance rather than on the past.We hope that Growing Young will engage ouryoung people, young families, and adults sothat we can be a vibrant congregation inthe Wilmington community, proclaimingGod’s Word to those in need, experiencing God’s love together. This month, I am very excited to tell you thatwe are ready for the next step in our partici- You can begin the assessment by going to thispation in the G-Y project, and I need YOU to website:make it successful.http://www.oursurvey.church/STPGYThis step is an assessment that is open to allmembers of the congregation, including (and The assessment will be open from now untilespecially) the readers of this newsletter. Why only thetabs and not the whole aluminumcan? The tab is cleaner, smaller andmade of high quality aluminum making it easier to collect in large quantities. One tab by itself doesn’t meanmuch but when everyone pulls together, pop-tabs add up and becomea valuable donation. Every year morethan 10,00 is raised through pop tabcollection.
