The Early Action(non-binding) deadline is November 1 and decisionletters are mailed the fourth week of December. Thestandard admission application deadline is March 1 anddecision letters are mailed on a rolling basis. Applicantswho wish to be considered for financial aid andscholarships must file their FAFSA early enough for theU.S. Department of Education to process theapplication and have it arrive at Hampton University’sFinancial Aid Office by March 1st for Fall admission orDecember 1st for Spring admission. To reserve yourspace in the freshman class, it is recommended thatyou submit your application for admission prior toNovember 1.Hampton University requires applicants to take eitherthe SAT or ACT examination for admission. Only officialtest scores will be accepted. Official scores may besubmitted to the Office of Admission, HamptonUniversity, Hampton, VA 23668, by school counselors,the Educational Testing Service (SAT) or the AmericanCollege Testing Program (ACT). The applicant canexpedite the submission of official test scores bydesignating Hampton University’s school code (5292) atthe time of testing. Non-U.S. citizens may substituteofficial TOEFL scores and national examination resultsfor SAT/ACT scores.Offers of admission are valid for the specific semesterrequested. Thefundamental purpose is to provide financial assistanceto students who would not be able to attend theUniversity without such aid.HOW TO APPLYAfter January 1 . Deadline for Virginia residentsto file for the Virginia TuitionAssistance GrantSPECIAL PROGRAMSThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)is the application for financial aid at HamptonUniversity. All students applying for aid must alsoapply for admission or be currently enrolled at theUniversity. Financial aid awards are made only afteradmission to the University. A completed FAFSA mustbe submitted to the Federal Processor with a requestthat the data be sent to Hampton University. HamptonUniversity’s Federal Student Code is 0 0 3 7 1 4. TheFAFSA is accessible at www.fafsa.ed.gov.Families should file the FAFSA in early January inorder to ensure that the data is processed by theFederal Processor and forwarded to Hampton’sFinancial Aid Office no later than the March 1stdeadline. Simply submitting the FAFSA by March 1stto the Federal Processor is not sufficient for priorityconsideration. In some cases, additional information will berequested from students being considered as finalistsfor these special awards.Virginia residents should apply for the VirginiaTuition Assistance Grant (TAG). TAG is available toVirginia residents based upon Virginia domiciliarystatus, using guidelines established by the State Councilof Higher Education for Virginia. Applications will bemailed from the Financial Aid Office to entering students.Non-Virginia residents are encouraged to apply forfinancial aid programs in their home states.
