I want to encourage you to keep your children home if they arecomplaining of a headache, stomach ache, or sore throat. The recent bout ofillness has also been accompanied by low grade fevers. February 9Progress Reports February 12-13OLSAT testing forSecond GradersWe have ramped up our hand washing and wiping down of door knobs andsurfaces. We are trying our best to be vigilant against the germs. Please help usby keeping ill students home. The first three components of National Board Certification include the submission of threeportfolios focused on Differentiation in Instruction, Teaching Practice and Learning Environment, andEffective and Reflective Practitioner. The fourth component of National Board Certification is anassessment based on content knowledge.National Board Certification is voluntary and is an advanced teaching credential that goes well beyondstate licensure. As of today, only 2,242 K-12th grade teachers across the state of Alabama have achievedNational Board Certification!

Page 5When symptoms exist, your child may not attend school. If symptoms occur in school, you will becontacted and must pick up your child from school. If your child is showing symptoms at home, youmust keep your child home from school. Per Auburn City Schools, please adhere to the followingguidelines: Fever: Oral temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher. Student must be fever free for 24hours before returning to school. Vomiting: Student cannot attend school if one episode of vomiting the presence of anothersymptom (fever, diarrhea, and etc.) OR two or more episodes of vomiting within a 24 hour period, even if no other symptoms exist. Diarrhea: Student cannot attend school if one episode of diarrhea the presence of anothersymptom (dehydration, fever, and etc.) OR three or more episodes of diarrhea in a 24 hour period, even if no other symptoms exist. Pink Eye: Student cannot attend school until medication has been administered and symptoms areno longer present. Chicken Pox: Cannot attend school until all blisters have formed scabs. Strep Throat: Cannot attend school until 24 hours after medical treatment and no fever. “Flu”: Cannot attend school until fever free 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. Youshould contact the school nurse if your child is diagnosed with flu. Impetigo: Cannot attend school until 24 hours after prescribed medical treatment. Ringworm: Your child must not attend school until treatment has been started. MRSA: “Staph Infection”: Cannot attend school until prescribed medical treatment is started,fever is absent, and the area is covered and drainage is not seeping through it.*You must submit proof of treatment or a statement of clearance from the healthdepartment or medical provider if proofs are requested by the school nurse.
