Most rooms are double occupancy with some threeand four person rooms. Traditional residence halls are equipped withcommon areas and kitchens. OUR RESIDENCE HALLSSuite styleMost rooms are double occupancy with some three-person rooms.Residents share an adjacent bathroom, a common area andkitchen with all residents in the suite. The suites are accessiblefrom an interior common space. Suite style halls are reserved forupperclassmen students. The suite style residence halls each comeoutfitted with full-size kitchens. The kitchens are equipped with amicrowave, stove, oven and refrigerator. Incoming transfer studentsare housed with other students of similar age and/or class year inschool in traditional style residence halls, when available.

LOFT BEDS AND LINENSLofting your bed is one way to maximize space in your residencehall room. Lofts are available for rent through the Berry CollegeLoft Program (BEDLOFT.COM). Buildings that are eligible torent a loft include Clara and Morton/Lemley. Rooms in Dana, EastMary, West Mary, Pilgrim, Friendship, Morgan, and Deerfield containfurniture that can be lofted using the furniture provided in the roomand are, therefore, ineligible for the loft program.AVAILABLE ALIFILSome rooms may be ineligible due to roomWR CAMPUSVEOspecifications. To check if your room is eligible fora rental loft, visit BEDLOFT.COM.Bedding and bath linens are available for purchase through ourpartnership with On Campus Market (OCM). OCM offers a great varietyof styles and value. This program may be especially helpful to students.CAMPUSSAFETYAll of our halls are locked 24/7 and are only accessible via residentID card. Each first-year floor has two upperclassmen ResidentAssistants (RAs) who have been trained and are ready to create yourhome away from home. Berry has campus safety officers available24/7. Driving onto campus, residents must have a scannable stickeron their windshield to get through the gate. Guests go through thedrive-through area off the welcome center and must show theirdriver’s license to get on campus.

Upon making yourday to thedeposit to Berry College, we encourageon-campus post office.When a student hasyou to complete the housing agreementmail (letters, packages,where you will also indicate roommateetc.), they will receivepreferences. We use these preferences toan email notificationmatch you with a roommate, so studentsand may pick it up atare encouraged to respond honestly. WHAT NOT TO BRINGWhile the Office of Residence Life reserves the right to make determinationsabout the appropriateness of items within the residential community, in general,students are prohibited from possessing or using the following items in theresidence halls or on the Berry College campus unless otherwise authorized: Candles, candle warmers, or incense Cigarettes, chewing tobacco, or any other tobacco products Empty and/or displayed alcohol-related containers Dangerous and/or other flammable chemicals Hookahs, E-cigarettes, vapors Household items that include but are not limited to: Halogenlamps, sun lamps, space heaters (including Pelonis fan type units),hot plates, clothes washers and dryers, external antennas, andwater beds K itchen appliances/items. This includes, but is not limited to:Toasters and toaster ovens (note: these items are permitted inresidence hall rooms that are equipped with full kitchens), electricskillets, George Foreman-style grilling machines, portable stoveburners, non-thermostat controlled coffee makers, open heatingelement appliances, and refrigerators larger than 4.5 cubic feetFAQs?May I see my room before moving in?Unfortunately, no. Residence hall rooms are not availableto be seen before move-in in August. Many of our halls areused either for summer school or camps and conferencegroups during the summer months. After these groupsleave, our housekeeping staff needs time to prepare the hallsfor your arrival.When can I move in?The official move-in date for first-year students is theWednesday before classes begin in August. Transferstudents will move in on either Wednesday or Friday,depending on their BCC class schedule. They will becommunicated with directly to determine their arrival date.Returning students may move in on the Saturday beforeclasses begin. Non-U.L. approved power-strip extension cords Pets (other than fish in a 20 gallon or smaller aquarium). FAQs? FAQs?Do I need to move out during breaks?Residence hall facilities are not open during winter break(the break between fall and spring semesters). Residentsmay leave their personal belongings in the rooms duringthese breaks. Residence Halls are open during fall andspring breaks.When will I find out my room assignment and roommate?New students will be notified of their room assignment andgiven contact information for their roommate(s) followingSOAR via their Berry email.How can I find out more information or ask specificquestions?First, see if you can find the answers to your questions in theHousing Contract or the Viking Code as many questionscan be answered through these resources. If you cannotfind the information you seek, please email us with yourquestions at residencelife@berry.edu.Can I hang pictures, posters, etc. on the wall?Yes. We recommend using products that will not leave aresidue. These include 3M pull tab strips or painters tape.Putting holes in the wall is not allowed and could result indamage charges.What type of security exists in the residence halls?Security begins at the Welcome Center, where non-Berrydecal holders are all screened. All our residence halls are on acard access system that works with the student’s ID card. AllResidential Halls are locked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Can I bring my pet?Fish are the only pets allowed.Aquariums are limited to20 gallons and must be wellmaintained. During Thanksgivingand winter breaks all electricalappliances (including aquariumequipment) must be disconnected.VisitationhoursSunday - Thursday10 a.m. to 1 a.m.Friday & Saturday10 a.m. to 2 a.m.*Please note that the policypertains to the animal (fish) and not to the habitat/livingenvironment in which they live (aquariums). Do I need to put my name on alist at the front gate?Campus visitors have their Driver’s License scanned at thefront gate, but you do not need to have your name on a list.
