It’sall just a click away at ourwebsite where you can find allthis, and other resources as well. That’s ambassadoradvertising.com/programs; just choosethe ministry page and click on“Program Toolkit”!Well, much to our chagrin, up until recently, our FTP site was accessed by a singleusername and password. That makes things convenient, but isn’t terribly secure.Anyone who had the combination could grab files from our FTP without muchrestriction. Here’s an easy wayto take a remarkablejourney this summer—invite listeners to hearFocus on the Family RadioTheatre’s weekly broadcast, currently featuring The Voyage ofthe Dawn Treader. Hard to beatKing Caspian’s noble voyage withEdmund, Lucy and friends!I hope your password isn’t on this list. If it is, it’s time to install a great passwordmanager like LastPass (lastpass.com). It’ll complete web forms for you, providestrong passwords you don’t have to remember and is portable to otherplatforms. It will remember hundreds of your passwords in a highly secureenvironment. But that old system is now long gone. Every station/user has a unique usernameand password, which permissions programs on a user-by-user basis. The samecombination will allow you to manage your FTP permissions. NANCYMINISTRYUPDATE&DeMoss Wolgemuth48 Hours with Revive Our HeartsAmbassador’s Jennifer Perez (Media Strategist for Revive Our Hearts)recently spent time in Michigan at headquarters for Nancy DeMossWolgemuth’s radio ministry. We’re excited for all that’s ahead, including theupcoming True Woman conference (update below!). As you read Jennifer’srecap of her visit, please join us in prayer for the women who continue to bereached by the message of Revive Our Hearts.1What a trip! My visit to Niles, Michigan (by way of Chicago) to meet withthe team at Revive Our Hearts was a summer highlight, and as NancyDeMoss Wolgemuth regularly prays, it was a time where God granted me“fresh oil.” While we experienced the heat (and humidity) of summertimein “Michiana,” my time there certainly wouldn’t be described as “lazy days.”In fact, there are lots of things happening at the ministry!Day One included a full day of meetings where I spent time with theirproduction team and strategy sessions with ROH leadership (Phil Krause,Tom Mathis, Hugh Duncan) (1) along with representatives from DouglasShaw & Associates. We also enjoyed a serendipitous surprise visit fromJim Schneider (President/VCY America-Milwaukee) with wife, Faith, andson, Matthew, who stopped by while traveling in the area (2).Then, after enjoying dinner (and ice cream J) by the shore of LakeMichigan with Martin and Helen Jones (3), it was back to the ministrycenter for Day Two where it was a special treat for me to be part of Nancy’srecording session with 80 other women who watched Nancy teach contentfor future radio programs (4). In addition to re-recording a program onmarriage from “The True Woman Manifesto” series, Nancy also taughtseveral programs on: “The Great I AM” (Exodus 3:1-15); “The WiseWoman of Abel” (2 Samuel 19:40-20:22); “A Psalm for Aging” (Psalm71)—scheduled to air August 29-31 before Nancy’s 60th birthday onSeptember 3!TRUE WOMAN ’18 UPDATEJoin us in thanking the Lord for over 6,800 womenregistered for True Woman ’18 (September 27-29 inIndianapolis). Attendees to this 10th anniversary eventwill hear from Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, MaryKassian, Dannah Gresh, and more including music byKeith & Kristyn Getty. &ROBERTBOOKPICKSWolgemuthRobert’s Recommended ReadsFor those in Christian broadcasting, you may have only known Robert Wolgemuth asthe fellow who swept Nancy Leigh DeMoss off her feet, marrying the Revive Our Heartsspeaker on November 14, 2015. But many of us have known Robert far longer because hehas been in the media world for nearly 40 years. A best-selling author himself (next upis Lies Men Believe—the perfect companion to Nancy’s own best-seller), Robert has alsolong served as literary agent for gifted writers. Who better, then, to ask the question welove to ask Christian leaders—what is your personal “Top 10 Recommended Reading” list? Thanks, Robert!Taste of New Wine Keith MillerI read this book in 1967 while spending thenight at O’Hare. (Remember college studentstand-by fares? We were the last to boardand often missed because of a full plane.) Itwas my first Christian book and I have neverforgotten the powerful impact the conversionof an Episcopal layman had on me.How to Give Away Your FaithPaul LittleRight out of college, I went into youthministry. This little (sic) book in 1973,was a lifesaver. Just the basics of personalevangelism.Where Is God When It Hurts?Philip YanceyAfter youth ministry, my first “real” job in1976, was with Campus Life Magazine, working with Philip Yancey. He became oneof my close friends (and still is) and favoriteauthors (and still is).The Lost Art of Disciple MakingLeRoy EimsIn 1981, Mike Hyatt became an employeeand friend (and still is). Then he became theco-founder of the company I now lead. Heintroduced me to LeRoy Eims. A powerful, memorable book.Born Again Chuck ColsonPublished in 1976, this breakout bestsellersurprised everyone. The Holiness of God R.C. SproulMy roots are pure Mennonite. Card-carryingWesleyans. Good things there to be sure. Butthis book introduced me to a concept I hadmissed growing up.the pure holiness of ourCreator.and the reason to live in holiness.not because it’s my ticket to heaven but rathermy privilege and joy here and now.Robert WolgemuthFearfully and Wonderfully MadePhilip Yancey and Paul BrandBack to this author again.right before thisbook went to press, Philip called to tellme about the book he had just finished. When I asked the title, he said, “The BodyRevealed.” I thought he could do better andmade a suggestion from Psalm 139. He likedit. I team taught this book in the 90s witha medical doctor. Really loved the way itimpacted my students as it had impacted me.Lies Women BelieveNancy DeMoss WolgemuthOkay, okay.shamelessly prejudiced here. But Iread this book when Nancy and I were dating. Then I sat with her on our deck in the summerof 2017 as she re-wrote it. It’s Nancy’sbestselling book. And for good reasons.Just Do Something Kevin DeYoungAnother “unprejudiced” recommendation, I’msure.but this is my favorite “one-sitting” book. It’s the freshest look at God’s sovereigntyand will that has been published. So manyChristians struggle here. This is so good. The Gospel Comes with a House KeyRosaria ButterfieldThis book was humbly and faithfully conceivedout of the crucible of life as it is and thewriting is brilliant. When the church gets thisidea, nothing will ever be the same.New from Robert—a compassionate butconfrontational look atthe reasons why so manyChristian men today arein serious crisis.5

GET TOKNOWPhil Johnsonis Executive Director of Grace to You, the media ministry of John MacArthur. In addition to leading GTY and also being the editorfor John’s major books for nearly 40 years, Phil has also recently stepped into the role of announcer/host for the Grace to You radiobroadcast. We invite you to get to know the new voice heard on nearly 900 outlets nationwide!Tell us how you first learned about Jesus.I grew up going to a liberal church, so Iheard a lot about Jesus from my earliestchildhood, but I had never really beentaught the gospel. About a month beforeI graduated from high school, I wassensing a great spiritual void in my life, soI picked up a Bible, opened it at random, and started reading. I’d never read morethan a verse or two of Scripture at once.1 Corinthians 1 is not where you’dsend a high school student lookingfor the gospel, but the dawn of trueunderstanding started for me with thatchapter: Paul’s condemnation of humanwisdom, wealth, power, and arrogance inthose opening chapters, combined withhis elevation of the gospel as somethingthat sounds uselessly unsophisticated tothe worldly wise—a stumbling block toJews and foolishness to Greeks. Withina week, God providentially exposed meto clear presentations of the gospel threemore times. It was as if everything in mylife suddenly conspired to make the truthof Scripture clear to me. And by the endof that week, I had become a believer.Your relationship with John MacArthur isa long one—how did that connection getmade originally? The first time I heard him was in 1977.I had never even heard his name, andI was pretty sure nothing good couldcome out of California. From the timeJohn MacArthur began teaching, I wastransfixed. The message wasn’t justrecycled platitudes that I’d heard before. He actually opened the Bible and taughtfrom it. During that very first message, itoccurred to me that John’s material wasso rich, he needed to be writing books.A few years later, I spent the next 18months editing John MacArthur’s sermons6for a couple of Moody Press books. Johnmust have liked my work, because heinvited me to come to California and jointhe GTY staff. That was 1983 and I’vebeen here ever since. The thrill of it hasnever worn off. I have this deep sensethat I’m doing exactly what I was born todo.As you’ve been closely engaged inworking with John’s materials and writingfor ministry, what do you most appreciateabout the relationship? His discipline and single-mindedstamina still amaze me. I’m thankfulfor his mentorship, encouragement, and patience. For someone who is assteadfast and clear-cut as he is in thepulpit, his personal dealings with peopleare always profoundly gracious. I love himfor that, and he is a joy to work with. You and Darlene have been married for40 years. How did you meet?We celebrated our 40th anniversary June10. We met when she came to work atMoody Press. It really was a case of loveat first sight. I invited her to a Cubs’ gamewithin 10 minutes of meeting her. Thatwas our first date. There’s a brick in thesidewalk at Wrigley with our names andthe date and score of that first game wewatched together. She’s a fanatical Cubsfan to this day.You now have three grown sons. Whatdo you hope they learned best from yourexample as a dad?Obviously, I hope they learned what itmeans to be devoted to Christ and Histruth and to make that the center fromwhich all their affections and all theirconvictions radiate. In practical, familyterms, I hope they learned the same thingthat was the best lesson I learned frommy dad: How to love your wife. And now you’re also a grandfather—whatdo you love best about this season? They’re a thousand times more fun thanhaving your own kids because you don’thave the same responsibility to disciplineand correct them. You can hand themback to their parents when they needthat, and all you have to do is showerthem with love and encouragement. We’re blessed in that all seven of ourgrandkids still live close by; they all stillgo to Grace Church, so we get to spendlots of time with them. It’s impossible tostate what a profound blessing they are.Psalm 128:6 speaks of grandchildrenas the pinnacle of all earthly blessings. They make up for a lot of the pains andinconveniences that come with old age. We’re going to assume you mightmention John MacArthur as a spiritualmentor but is there anyone else pivotal toyour spiritual growth you’d want to name?Warren Wiersbe influenced me greatly. He was the first true Bible expositor Iever heard. Wiersbe whetted my appetitefor Scripture; John MacArthur taughtme the difference between the milk ofGod’s Word and meat. His teaching hasgiven me a craving for teaching that istruly nourishing and deeply satisfying, rather than the cotton candy so manyevangelicals settle for.You created a blog titled Pyromaniacs why that name? It’s a reference to Jeremiah 23:29, wherethe Lord says, “Is not my word like fire?”Learn more aboutPhil, and readthe full interview:ambaa.com/speakers
