You can request sending score reports tocolleges when registering or after test day. When registering: You may send up to 4 free score reportsto colleges of your choice every time you register for theSAT . This is the fastest way to send scores to colleges andscholarship programs—and there’s no additional fee. Manycolleges view receiving your scores early as a demonstration ofyour interest. When registering: You may send up to 4 free score reportsto colleges of your choice every time you register for theACT . You determine which set ofscores is sent to colleges or scholarship programs. ACT willrelease only the scores from the test date (month and year)and test location (e.g., National, State, School) you designate. If you don't want all of your scores sent to your chosen colleges, use Score Choice on your College Board account after theexam, to select specific tests based off of that college'srequirements. Please note, however, that some colleges requireall SAT scores that you have received to be submitted. Somecolleges accept superscoring, or combining your best sectionscores, but this is by university, not the trend.***ACT uses superscoring, or combining your best sectionscores, so most students wait to send their results until they arehappy with all their section scores (English, Math, Reading, andScience).College Board’s Online Learning Tool: Khan Academywww.khanacademy.org/satACT’s Online Learning Tool: ACT Academywww.academy.act.org‘Iolani students also have access to ‘Iolani’s Test Prep Google site - link provided on all student iPads.

UNDERSTANDING TEST-OPTIONAL AND TEST BLINDAs a response to COVID-19, many universityadmissions adopted temporary test optionalaccommodations for students. A few universitieshave chosen to continue these optional guidelines, but have provided caveats. In order to comply withNCAA regulations, most colleges are requiringthat student athletes still submit testing, and somescholarships still require standardized test results.Whatever you do, research your possibilities andconsult with your college counselors to make aninformed decision! T est-optional means they will consider yourapplication complete without the additionof standardized testing results. Somecolleges will require additional materials(a portfolio, graded essay, etc) if a studentchooses not to submit test scores, whileothers will simply waive the requirement. It’s important to understand that if theschool does not consider your testing, thenthey will put greater weight on the otheraspects of your application (grades, lettersof recommendations, essays). For somestudents this feels like a positive option, while others may believe that their testingis a positive element to be considered. It iscrucial to consider where your testing fallsrelative to the college’s listed test averages. If you’re within the middle 50% or higher, youmay want to include your testing, even if theschool is test optional. T est blind schools say that they will notconsider any test results even if submitted, and the reality is that there are very few ofthese schools.RECENT COLLEGE BOARD & ACT UPDATES: SAT IIs, or Subject Tests, will no longer beoffered nor required for the class of 2022and on. SAT has also discontinued the essay optionalportion starting with the August 2021 exams. ACT digital retesting of sections has beensuspended during 2021, with no expectationof returning anytime soon.
