Each recipient will receive 2,500 per year forfour years to be applied directlyto the student’s account at the institution.American Culinary Federation Involvement(Total of 10 possible points)Points may be earned for involvement in ACF relatedactivities including attending local chapter meetings,volunteering for chapter events, working on an ACFcommittee, or attending an ACF national or regionalevent. Points vary depending on the number of ACFevents attended in the last 12 months with a 3 eventmaximum. Submit for verification a letter from achapter representative or letter of attendance.Eligibility Requirements ACF represents 21,500members spanning230 chapters ACF offers the mostcomprehensivecertification programfor American Chefs ACF is an industryleader in supplyingeducational resources,training, apprenticeshipand accreditation ACF is host to ACFNational Convention,the largest gatheringof professional chefsin the nation ACF’s Seal of Approvalprogram provides qualityassurance to consumersTo be considered by the scholarship committee, anapplicant must meet the following requirements: Be an exemplary student. Have and maintaina cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Be a high school senior eligible to graduate thesame year as the scholarship is applied for. Be currently accepted to the institution with amajor in either culinary or pastry arts. Have a career goal of becoming a chefor pastry chef1 event/activity submitted 3 points2 event/activities submitted 7 points3 event/activities submitted 10 pointsRequired Essay(Total of 25 possible points)Application ProceduresApplicants will be evaluated on a 100 point scaledependent on the criteria listed below. Onlycompleted and signed applications will bereviewed by the scholarship selection committee.Complete each essay question listed on page 5 of thisapplication. Each question is worth a possible 5 pointsfor a total of 25. Answers must be a minimum of 50words per question. Only typed response willbe considered.Academic Grade Point AverageLetters of reference(Total of 30 possible points)(Total of 5 possible points)The following points are earned based on theapplicants cumulative GPA. Sealed official transcriptshowing current GPA must be submitted forverification. No duplicate copies will be accepted.Submit two letters of recommendation from industry,culinary professional and/or culinary educators. Familymembers are ineligible. Late references will notbe considered.Cumulative GPA 2.5 – 2.59 2 pointsCumulative GPA 2.6 – 2.79 5 pointsCumulative GPA 2.8 – 2.99 10 pointsCumulative GPA 3.0 – 3.29 15 pointsCumulative GPA 3.3 – 3.59 20 pointsCumulative GPA 3.6 – 3.89 25 pointsCumulative GPA 3.9 – 4.0 30 pointsSelection ProcessSelection will be based by points on student’s overallacademic progress, financial need, extracurricularactivities, participation in culinary activities,competitions and answers to essay questions.Notice of AwardsStudents will be notified by mail of any scholarshipaward or denial.Participation in Culinary Competitions(Total of 20 possible points)Renewal of ScholarshipPoints may be earned for competing in a culinary orpastry competition at a local, regional, or national level.Acceptable competitions include ACF sanctionedcompetitions, Skills USA, ProStart competitions. Onlyone competition may be submitted per scholarshipapplication. For verification please submit competitor’sletter or letter of participation from team coach.Verification letters should include name, date andlocation of competition. Competition must have beenheld within the last 12 months.Scholarships are not automatically renewed forcandidates.
