1. IntroductionCareer is an interaction between work and other life activities; which includes both paidand unpaid work. The relationship between career and personality spans over anindividual’s lifetime. Hence, the need for a match between one’s personality and careerchoice is widely stressed upon. Choosing a career from a large and challenging array ofpossibilities is a problem to the youngsters because a lot of attention is paid to academicperformance with little information on the link between the subject chosen and futurecareers. Choosing a wrong career path will have a lasting impact on an individual’spersonal and professional life. In order to bridge the gap and allow the youngsters andparents to take an informed decision, we designed and developed MCMF.2. 2. CAREER PATH AFTER12th STANDARD

2.1. Options after 12thHere’s an overview of courses an individual can take if he or she decides to study furtherafter successfully completing 12th standard.Figure 5: Career stream options after 12th standardNote: The above figure gives an outline of streams that are available aftersuccessful completion of 12th standard if the individual choses to go for furtherstudies. The figure also gives you a list of career paths under each major stream.These career clusters are well researched and form the basis of your personalitycareer mapping in the MCMF report.10

6.1.1 EngineeringThis section gives you an overview of the steps involved in taking up engineering as anundergraduate course. A representative list of courses and best colleges are also given.The career path section will help you understand the steps an individual can take up afterengineering.Figure 6: Engineering-an overviewNote: Eligibility entrance exam will vary depending on the individual’s choice to pick anational or a state level exam. The above given undergraduate courses are just arepresentative list of courses. An individual with an engineering undergraduate degreecan either chose to take up a job or study further in the same core discipline or pick anyother stream.
