PHOTOGRAPHY DEPARTMENTWith over 400 students every year, CCSF has one of the largestphotography programs in the country. Our student body consistsof career seekers, working photography professionals, fine artists,photography enthusiasts, and students from other disciplinessuch as Visual Media Design, Architecture, Cinema, Broadcasting,and Journalism. With over 25 different classes, our diverseprogram includes a range of topics; architectural photography tostudio lighting; alternative processes to reportage.Our faculty and staff are experienced professionals who create anencouraging environment focused on photo-technical aptitude,creativity, and critical thinking. CERTIFICATES OF ACCOMPLISHMENTDigital PhotographyThis certificate provides a strong foundation in photography anddesign, and includes in-depth instruction in image organizationand manipulation technologies (i.e. Adobe Lightroom & AdobePhotoshop ). Students completing this certificate programwill be qualified for employment in fields that rely heavily onpost-production and retouching such as wedding photography,product photography, fashion photography, graduationphotography, portrait photography, and fine-art photography.Additionally students will be prepared for entry-level positions inimage conservation and restoration, emerging media and start-upcompanies. This certificate is also recommended for studentsseeking to upgrade skills for career advancement or transition.Studio LightingThis certificate provides hands-on instruction in electronicstrobe equipment as well as studio lighting tools and techniquesas applied to professional studio photography. The certificateprogram also includes a strong foundation in design. Studentscompleting this program will be qualified for employment in thefields of commercial photography, product photography, portraitphotography, event and fashion photography, food photography,and entry-level positions in medical and forensic photography.Photograph Studio PracticeThis certificate provides hands-on instruction in large formatcameras, electronic strobe equipment and lighting techniquesas applied to professional studio and/or portrait photography.As with all capstone certificate programs at CCSF, a solidfoundation in design is a core element. Portrait LightingThis certificate provides hands-on instruction in both ambient andelectronic strobe equipment and lighting techniques as applied toprofessional portrait photography. In addition to the craft aspectsof portrait lighting, consideration of how best to work withsubjects and a thorough foundation in design are components ofthe program. Students completing this certificate program willbe qualified for employment in the fields of portrait photography,wedding photography, family photography, public relations,event and fashion photography, documentary photography,photojournalism, sports photography, travel photography,and to work as a professional photographer’s assistant.Reportage PhotographyThis certificate provides a foundation in reportage photographyand builds competency with ambient lighting, electronic strobeequipment, and lighting techniques.
