You are now part of anorganization with a long standing tradition of excellence that is now your duty to uphold.You have seized an amazing opportunity for your personal growth that will develop yourpersonal leadership skills through the study of music performance. Challenging oneself byadopting an attitude of constant self-improvement, service to organization, and persistencetoward group and personal goals will continue to reward you throughout your life.The choice to be in band is one of the most exceptional commitments you will evermake. There is no equivalent or comparable experience to band. You will be joining aperforming ensemble that delves deep into the art of music. We will explore the immenselyintricate and intellectual challenges of music performance, an amazing art that aims to directlytransfer emotion through the acoustic (human powered) production of sound! Experiences inband include extensive music skill development, opportunity for creative expression, publicperformance, travel, and development of lifelong friendships. This is all coupled with thedynamics of participation in a student lead organization that thrives on teamwork, goal basedachievement, and pride. Band is challenging, exciting, emotional, physical, rewarding, aculture in itself, and exists because of your commitment.Whether your motivation for being in the band is musical, social, leadership oriented, orsimply for fun, YOU are the most integral part in insuring our band’s success. Your hardwork, dedication, spirit, enthusiasm, service, clear communication, and constant commitmentto the band is crucial to the quality of YOUR band experience. The direction of the band doesnot reside solely in the hands of the director, instructors, or our student leadership; allmembers share this responsibility equally.

Jazz Ensemble: Pre-requisite: Jazz audition and previous band experience along with concurrent enrollment in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, or Percussion Ensemble. Permission may be granted to take only Jazz Band if varsity sport conflict exists. Exception: piano, bass, guitar, drums. Students must have the director’s approval for admission. This
