We all have faced many challenges this past year due toCOVID-19. Because of the ongoing concern with public health, we have had to makeadjustments to our competitive programs, exhibits, and layouts with enhanced healthand safety measures in mind. Please note that these modifications are not permanentand we look forward to planning future fairs with our full line of competitions andexhibits. We thank you all for your understanding and continued support as wenavigate through these times together!Changes you will see in the Home Arts & Collections Gallery include: The Fiber Arts, Hand Craft & Hobbies and Jewelry Arts Competition Guides have beencombined into a single guide. Many divisions and classes have been temporarily combined or are on temporary hiatus;we plan to revisit next year. The absence of Home Arts demonstrators, our Craft Table and our in-person AwardsPresentation. The Fine Arts Woodworking show has moved to the Visual Arts Gallery. Collections and Table Settings shows have moved to the Home Arts Gallery.We look forward to seeing you again and celebrating summer at the OC Fair!2021 Competition Guide1

Home Arts & HobbiesR UL E S1. Local and State Rules govern this competition.2. Exhibitors are responsible for reading the Competition Guidelines and must abide by them.3. If you need assistance determining the Division and/or Class, please contact the Exhibits Office at (714)708-1553 or email cgunst@ocfair.com. Inquiries will be responded to within 72 business hours.4. Causes for disqualification Non-compliance to the Competition and OC Fair Guidelines. Entries over the maximum amount allowed will not be accepted. Entry cannot differ from the uploaded image. Articles showing signs of wear or use may be disqualified. Entries must follow the rules of the Division and Class. Items previously entered in the OC Fair will be disqualified.Exception: 2020 Virtual Fair entries will not be disqualified. Disqualified entries may not be displayed and must be picked up when notified.5. Entry fees are non-refundableThere will be no refunds for any reason. By entering the competition you are confirming that you acceptthe no-refund policy.6. Adult Home Arts is a juried competition. Not all entries will be accepted.All youth entries are accepted if rules are followed.7. All entries must have been completed within the last three years.Items will not be accepted if made before 20188. Display and location of entry is at the discretion of the Program Coordinator. No entry will be acceptedwhere an exhibitor describes conditions under which they will exhibit or how the entry must be displayed.9. Exhibitors are responsible for entering their items in the correct Division and Class.10. Work must be finished; no incomplete or work in progress will be accepted.11. Final acceptance of the entry will be left to the discretion of the Program Coordinator.12. Due to the family-oriented theme of the OC Fair, no work dealing with drug use, obscenity, defamatorystatements, violence or gang activity, satanic or cult themes or other offensive or objectionable contentwill be accepted.This is at the discretion of the OC Fair staff.13. Although reasonable efforts will be undertaken to safeguard exhibitors’ property against loss, damage ortheft, neither the State of California nor the OC Fair & Event Center will be responsible for any loss, damageor theft of exhibitors’ property brought on the premises during the period of the OC Fair. Every precautionwill be taken in the handling and exhibiting of entries.14. All other formats will not upload. RGB file CMYK will not upload properly (using standard Adobe RGB 98 or sRGB color space) Be sure that the image is rotated to be in an upright position and orientation Maximum file size: 7 MB (megabytes).If your total image file size is greater than 7 MB, you will need to use a photo editing program to resize the photo image.2021 Competition Guide3

Entries will be judged first from uploadedimages viewed online to determine if the submitted entry meets the requirements and the subjectivestandards for exhibition set by the judges. Decisions are final and cannot be protested.Reassignment of Entry Division or ClassJudges and/or the Program Coordinator have the option of reassigning an entry to a more appropriateDivision or Class or combine Divisions or Classes to create an adequate judging pool. Nonetheless, it is theresponsibility of the exhibitor to enter their work in the appropriate Class. Failure to enter the appropriateClass may result in disqualification.Acceptance for ExhibitionYou will be notified by email with the results of the First Round Judging. Please check your Spam/Junkfolder. Results can also be viewed online at ocfair.com/results. Only accepted items to be delivered onthe Entry Delivery Day. First Round Judging acceptance does not guarantee acceptance for exhibition. Home Arts & HobbiesJudg ingQualified judges are selected by the Program Coordinator from local professionals and individuals who areexperienced and highly qualified in their fields. Each year the Program Coordinator may choose new judgesor judges may judge different Divisions from year to year. The judges’ decisions are final.Adult DivisionsPlaced using the American Judging System where exhibits are ranked one against another. First, Second, Third Place and Honorable Mention may be awarded in each Class if judges sodetermine. More than one Honorable Mention per Class may be awarded. First Place Winners will compete for Division Winner. Division Winners will compete for Best of Show.Junior & Young Adult DivisionsPlaced using the Danish Judging System where each entry is judged on how well it meets a standardrather than how it compares to other entries. Entries are judged Blue (superior), Red (very good) or White (average) Award. There may be more than one Blue, Red or White Award per Class. All Blue Awards will then compete, using the American Judging System, for Division Winner Those chosen for Division Winner will compete for Best of Show when there are two or more Divisionsrepresented in the show.Judging Criteria Adult: Entries are judged on originality and creativity, workmanship and technique, level of difficulty,color and design, finishing and appearance. Youth: Entries are judged on appearance, workmanship, creativity/originality and an overall score.Judges’ AwardAdditional awards may be made at the discretion of each judge for outstanding entries that exhibit specialqualities that the judges feel deserves to be recognized.Industry AwardsAwarded by a community guild or organization.Disqualified EntriesIf an entry is disqualified after judging is complete, the judge will not change the status of awards given forother entries.2021 Competition Guide7
