Why Study Posing?Posing is the easiest and quickestway to improve your photos andyour client satisfaction.

Why Study Posing? The better your client looks, themore she raves about you and themore she buys.

What makes a successful pose? Flatters your Subject(make them look as good if not better than real life) Gets your point across(what are you trying to show – feel in your imageAre you looking for Sexy, Serene, Excited, etc ) Creates interest in your image(composition, negative space, S-Shape)

How to use this guideThis guide will help you fix common mistakes, help you when you struggle and is a perfectrefresher to read before a shoot.

Here are my favorite tips andtricks:

Arms are the hardest to pose.Arms often add bulk to the body.Keeping them away from the sidesof the body help slim a womanand show off her curves. There a few ways to do this.

In Body vs. Out of Body PosingIn Body is when the woman hasher arms within the lines of herbody (torso) which mimics andaccentuates her shape.

You can see herehow her armsaccentuate herhourglass figure.

In Body vs. Out of Body PosingOut of body posing is when thewoman has her arms outside thelines of her body (torso) whichallows us to see her shapewithout blocking it.

By keepingher armsaway fromher curves,we see thebeautifulnaturalshape of hertorso.

Out of Body PoseIn Body Pose

In Body vs. Outof Body PosingYou can alsocombine the two!The key to makesure we see thecurves and wedon’t add bulk.

You can also use thearm to mimic the shapeof the bodyThis prevents thearm from addingbulk.

The samerules applywhen yourclient islaying down.

Be Careful Not to AmputateIt’s perfectly ok for a woman toonly have one arm, but if she hastwo – let’s show that.

FingersThey’ve ruined way too manyphotos for me

Fingersgive hands something to do helps hide handsand makes your client more comfortable inposing.

HipsPushing the hips away from the camera makes them looksmaller, defines the stomach and lengthens the torso. This is my #1 Posing tip!!!Whenever you don’t know how to make a woman lookbetter – push her hips back!!

Hips awayfrom thecamera. This helpsaccentuateher hourglassfigure andminimize herthighs. Pluslook at hergorgeousstomach!

Hips awayfrom thecameraHer thighslook muchslimmerwhenpushing thehips away.

Hips awayfrom thecameraWhat adifferencehere just bypushing thehips back!

HipsWhen taking tush shots, we break therules and push hips toward the camera.

Pushing the tush toward the cameraand out from the waist down makesit much fuller and helps minimizecellulite.

Waist/HipsWhen laying down, we are still lookingfor curves through the waist and hips.

This is amuchbetterphoto justby pushingthe hip up!

This is amuch betterphoto justby rotatingthe hips tothe side.

KneesWhen laying down the leg furthest from thecamera should be lower than the one closest.

Look at how much largerthe back thigh looks whenit is raised higher than thefront.Raising the front leg ismuch more flattering.
