Chapter –1INTRODUCTION1.1 INTRODUCTIONThe survey is a recognized and accepted part of the modern society. It is one of the meansby which society keeps it informed, awayof bringing under central situations ofincreasing size and complexity of obtaini ng perceptive and standard of com parison. Asurvey gives an oversight of a field and is thus distinguishing from a sort of study whi chconsists of a m icroscopic examination of a turf ; it is a m ap rather than a detailed plan.The survey must be planned before a start is made.1.2 PURPOSE OF THE LITERATURE SURVEYThe lite rature review pla ys a very important role in the res earch proc ess. It is a so urcefrom where research ideas are draw n and developed into concepts and finally theories. Italso provides the researcher a bird’s eye view about the research done in that area so far.Depending on what is observed inthe litera ture review, a research er will unders tandwhere his/her research stands. Here in this literature survey, all primary, secondary andtertiary sources of information were searched.The study of literatu re on --------- ---------------------------------- ( your topic name ) i ngeneral and in the field of library and information science particular revealed severalefforts made by the scholars in different discipline.The purpose of the literature survey is to collect a lot of number of journal’s article abouta particular topic like as I have collected --- (number) articles of “------------------------------------(your topic name )” with abstract. 1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE LITERATURE SURVEYThe main objective of the Literature survey is to:(i)know who writes, what and where about (your topic name);(ii)identify the tools and sources of (your topic name), and(iii) prepare the relevant bibliographic entries with abstract of the related topic.1.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDYThe literature survey is conducte d for the period 20-- - 20-- .journals, which are subscribedIt includes the articles ofby the Central Library, Univers ity of Delhi, Delhi. Asearch has been conducted on th e term s “ ----------- -----------------(your topic relatedkeywords”, “ ---------------- -”, in LISA, Em erald, LISTA, Science d irect, EBSCO andother database to com plete review of lite rature for the propo sed study, including searchon e-journals websites. In addition to above searches, bibliography of journal article arealso review ed for m ore sources as wellas websites and consul ted various em inentexperts.1.5 METHODOLOGYFor preparing of this literature survey I have taken a lot of steps for collecting the articlesabout the (your topic name). First Sir/madam, told us about the what is literature surveyand what are the steps involved for prepar ing it. He had given m e the topic – “( yourtopic name )” for the survey. I went to the department lib rary and ce ntral lib rary forcollecting a rticles f rom journa ls o n m y assigned topic. I alsoresources for collecting articles such asconsulted electronicem erald, JCCC@UGC In fonet, Open-Jgate,Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), et c. After the verificati on of the entries ofthe articles by the supervisor my last was the preparation of the report.2

1.6 ARRANGEMENT OF ENTRIESAll the entr ies of the litera ture su rvey are ar ranged alphab etically by surnam e of theauthor acco rding to Modern Language Association of Amwriters of research papers, 7therica (MLA) handbook foredition. The prescribed st yle is used through out theliterature survey report including within the text. All the bibliographical entities includingreview with abstract and without abstract are presented in the report.Chapter 2 entitled “------------------------------------ (title of the Chapter-2)” gives the briefinsights of the study.3
