About This DocumentThis document describes the messages and codes that you may receive during theday-to-day operation of the Tivoli NetView Distribution Manager for MVS(NetView DM for MVS) licensed program.Who Should Read This DocumentThis document is intended for people who need to understand the messages andcodes received from NetView DM for MVS.How to Use This DocumentWhile operating NetView DM for MVS, you may receive printed or displayedmessages, some indicating an acknowledgment and others requiring action. Youmay also receive an abend code issued after the end of processing, if an abnormalNetView DM for MVS condition occurs. Messages issued only during theinstallation of the product are documented in Installation and Customization,SH19-6794.Messages and abend codes are listed in numerical order. An explanation of eachmessage, the action taken by the system, and recommended user responses areincluded as appropriate.For the messages issued to the generalized interactive executive (GIX) display, anexplanation, the system action, and the recommended responses are suppliedonline with help panels. These messages are also documented in this document.TerminologyThis document uses the following terminology conventions: Unless otherwise indicated, the term NetView DM for MVS always refers toNetView DM for MVS Release 7. The terms dataset and file are synonymous. The word alphanumeric is used in this document to mean all alphabetic andnumeric characters, and the special characters %, &, , #, @, and(underscore).The glossary in this document defines the terms used in NetView DM for MVS.For data processing terms that you are not familiar with, you may want to refer tothe IBM Dictionary of Computing, New York: McGraw-Hill, 1994.How This Document Is Organized Chapter 1, “Introduction” describes the format and classification of NetView DMfor MVS messages and codes, and identifies the devices on which they areissued. Chapter 3, “Abend Codes” lists the NetView DM for MVS abend codes innumerical order. Appendix A, “ VSAM and QSAM Errors” describes the supplementaryinformation issued if a VSAM or QSAM error occurs.
