This material provides information about applyingfor admission as a graduate student. Review it thoroughly before completing the application. Please note: The quickest and easiest way to applyand pay the application fee is online at siue.edu/apply.SIUE has a dual admission process for degree-seeking status. Applicants must satisfy the admission requirements and be approved foradmission to graduate study both by the Graduate School and by the academic program to which the application is made. Earning abaccalaureate degree from SIUE does not guarantee admission into graduate study. For specific program admission requirements,such as test scores, personal interviews, personal history forms, letters of recommendation or additional applications, visitsiue.edu/academics/degrees-and-programs or contact the program director of your intended program.International Applicants: If you hold or require a non-immigrant visa, do not complete this application. Request international applicationmaterials from Office of Admissions by emailing intladm@siue.edu or apply and pay the application fee online at siue.edu/apply.Classified (degree-seeking): For classified (degree-seeking) students, the application must be completed at least four weeks before the firstday of the term: Spring 2018: December 8, 2017; Summer 2018: April 27, 2018; Fall 2018: July 20, 2018; Spring 2019: December 14, 2018; andSummer 2019: May 3, 2019. However, several departments have deadlines earlier than the general dates above; refer to the Graduate DegreeProgram list at siue.edu/academics/degrees-and-programs to identify these departments, or check with the Graduate Program Director. Studentswho want to return to programs in which they were previously admitted may submit applications through the first day of the term.Unclassified (non-degree seeking): For unclassified (non-degree seeking) applications, the deadline is five working days prior to the first dayof the term.The graduate catalog is available online at siue.edu/academics/catalogs/graduate/index.shtml. Schedule of classes is available online atsiue.edu/registrar/schedules.APPLICATION FEEThere is a 40 application fee for all new graduate applicants and returning applicants who have not attended SIUE as a graduate student for thepast nine consecutive terms. Payment should be made in U.S. dollars by check or money order payable to SIUE. Payment may also be madeby credit card online at siue.edu/apply. Applications received without the fee will not be processed. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. Applicantswho decide to change their term of entry after submitting an application or being admitted will be required to complete a new application for thedesired term. If an applicant submits a new application to change their term of entry, no additional graduate application fee will be required forthe next two terms or one academic year.PROVIDING ACADEMIC CREDENTIALSApplicants who apply online may upload copies of academic credentials for review by the Graduate School and department. These documentswill be utilized for the purpose of determining if the applicant is qualified for admission, however, these documents will not be considered official.Official documents must be sent directly from the institution(s) where baccalaureate work was completed to avoid a registration hold. Officialtranscripts should be mailed directly to: SIUE, Office of Admissions, Campus Box 1047, Edwardsville, IL 62026-1047.SIUE accepts electronic transcripts submitted through various providers. In addition, electronic transcripts can also be sent toetranscripts@siue.edu directly from the institution. If a transcript is received through this account from a student, it will not be considered official.FINANCIAL SUPPORT INFORMATIONAssistantships: Three types of graduate assistantships are available to degree-seeking students: general, research and teaching.Stipends vary according to the percentage of appointment and the length of service. Assistants are eligible for tuition remission.Academic departments and other units on campus award assistantships. Openings are posted in the individual departments andonline at rds: First-time graduate degree-seeking students may apply for a Graduate Scholar Award which provides waiver of tuition or CompetitiveGraduate Award which provides a stipend and a waiver of tuition. SIUE now offers in-state tuition to master’s-level graduate students who areresidents of Missouri and other regional states. Please refer to the class schedule or graduate catalog for prerequisite andrestriction information. Only a limited amount of credit earned while in unclassified status may be used to satisfy degree requirements should yousubsequently be admitted to a degree program.

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMSThe chart below lists the majors offered with corresponding degrees and required standardized tests. Since more than one degree may be available for thesame major, you must indicate your degree selection and the specialization, if applicable. If more than one standardized test is listed for your major, thedepartment will generally accept the results of either test. Not all programs require a standardized test.
