Damian’s Visio Stencils User ManualOverview:These stencils were created using Visio 2010 and should be compatible with all later Visio versions, the stencils were made to have a consistent look and feel and were designed primarily for Control4integrators.Some of the shapes are smart which means they might change size or text based on shape data, hovering over a smart shape in the master stencil should show a description of how the shape canbe used. The shapes were made using a metric A3 page and only the rack shapes have been made for a scaledpage environment of 1mm – 6mm, this was to ensure compatibility with the Middle Atlantic rackstencils that many installers have been using, and this ensures they can use any of their existing rackshape stencils they may have already created.Table of contents: Rack Dynamic StencilsSchematic Block StencilsAutomation Callout StencilsAdditional Helpful stencilsControl4 Controllers/ Interfaces & ZigBee DevicesControl4 Panelized LightingEcobee StencilsProjector Lifts & TV Brackets StencilsGeneric Switchboard StencilsGeneric Network Switch StencilsJust Add Power StencilsLine End StencilsPakedge StencilsRanchio Irrigation StencilsSkydrop Irrigation StencilsRing Video IntercomsSonos Multiroom AudioTheatre EquipmentTriad SpeakersPower Points & AV PlatesWyze Cam

Rack - Dynamic Stencils (page scale 1mm – 6mm).These stencils come with 2 smart rack shapes, one with rack unit markings on the side and onewithout, these shapes are smart and allow for Visio shapes to be placed within them andautomatically ordered from top to bottom, the order of the shapes can be rearranged by selectingthe shape and dragging it to the new desired location. In order to reduce the number of Control4 shapes that I needed to create, I have created a smartshape that can be double clicked and have the manufacture/ru size and model name changed, thisenables one shape to look like many of the rack mounted C4/Pakedge/Triad devices.(see pic).Other smart shapes are patch panels, a generic av receiver, shelves, blank plates, doors and a UPS.Middle AtlanticConsoleResetWanLanVoipSFP1Unifi US-24 500WSFP224 Port Patch PanelEA3POWER ONVOLT METERDIMMER120PROTECTIONOKmyHDiOppoULTRA HD BLURAY PLAYER UDP-203IntegraRack Amp 700Middle Atlantic ProductsSchematic Block StencilsThese stencils were created as a way to do line diagrams showing how the audio visual equipment isconnected, I needed a way to quickly create a schematic block showing all the inputs and outputs ofan av device. I have created 3 smart schematic blocks with 2 different appearances, each blockworks slightly differently.Schematic block 1 – Drag onto the page and accept the dialogue box stating it will have its link to themaster shape severed, double click on the perimeter of the shape and modify the number of inputsand outputs to your requirement, next select each input and output and rename to match yourpiece of audio visual equipment.Make/ModelInputINPUT 1INPUT 2INPUT 3INPUT 4INPUT putOUTPUT 1OUTPUT 2OUTPUT 3OUTPUT 7282956789Schematic block 2 – Drag onto the page and accept the dialogue box stating it will have its link to themaster shape severed, double click on the perimeter of the shape and modify the number of inputsand outputs to your requirement and amend the manufacturers name and model #, next select eachinput and output and rename to match your piece of audio visual equipment.

Additional Helpful StencilsA collection of helpful automation based stencils like heat pumps, switchboards, satellite dishes etc.Communication Board StencilsA collection of stencils created to show comms/matv equipment rack UTOUTOUTOUTOUTTV7TV4OUTOUTDIGITAL 8TV3IN5 Way SplitterOUTOUTTV5TV2OUTSTB RETURNTV1OUTOUTUnifi US-8 150WAlarm PanelDSCUnifiONTBattery BackupControl4 Controllers/ Interfaces & Zigbee DevicesA collection of stencils showing equipment from the control4 DnPrevVol UpMUTEHOMECh UpPOWERTempSelectzVol DnCh DnBACKMuteInfoMenuCancelDVRCA-10 Pause123456789*0#Control4 Panelized LightingA collection of stencils for drawing a panelized lighting system, some of these shapes are smart andwill need explaining. The configurable keypad is a smart shape that allows for the button sizes to be changed by rightclicking on a button, while a button is selected you can change the text by simply typing, delete anybuttons that are no longer required then right click on the faceplate perimeter and select thefaceplate style “Decora/Square” and then “lock” to prevent accidentally deleting any of yourchanges in the future. Note: To resize the keypad – select the faceplate and all the buttons and thendrag from one corner in the direction you require. This stencil has not been designed to work on ascaled page! To use it on a scaled page create it on a non-scaled page then copy and special paste itas a Picture (Enhanced Metafile), it will effectively be a picture and can’t be modified from this point.

The button press stencil is a smart shape that can display/hide an arrow and when the arrow isattached to a shape the icon will follow the button even if removed from the keypad.A potential use case is showing that a double press will trigger a lighting scene.Ecobee StencilsA collection of stencils to depict Ecobee thermostats and their remote probes.Projector Lifts & TV Brackets StencilsA collection of TV brackets/ projector lifts and picture sliders.Generic Switchboard StencilsA collection of switchboard components that were created to speed up my own personalswitchboard drawings, I found that I was spending too long lining up mcb’s and dimmers etc witheach other so I made these shapes smart, when dropped on the page you will be prompted for aquantity and the shape will display the number of shapes as one shape that is easily aligned.Note: Switchboard is 24 Din Wide.

Generic Network Switches StencilsA set of generic switches/routers and Wi-Fi access points that can be used to depict your networkconfiguration, they started out totally generic but I noticed I could easily add a logo to give eachswitch/router or Wi-Fi access points the manufacturers look and feel (manufacturers covered areUbiquiti Unifi/Pakedge and Araknis). When this shape is dropped onto a page you will be prompted to accept it being severed from themaster shape, once the shape is on the page you can double click the perimeter of the shape andyou will be presented with a dialogue box asking how many RJ45 ports you require. There are 2 line stencils that can be used to connect to the RJ45 ports – one looks like arrows andthe other looks like a patch lead. If the lines do not work as expected right click and reset “theconnector” – I find that Visio sometimes has problems with connector lines in Visio 2010.Note: These shapes do not work on a scaled page! You can also change the height of the feet andthe top 3D perspective by clicking on them and dragging up or st Add Power StencilsA set of generic Just Add Power baluns for using in your drawings.Line End StencilsA set of 27 line ends depicting hdmi cables and rj45 ends etc. these have been designed to also workwith the schematic stencils once you have right clicked and made the schematic block large.Drag them onto a blank page and then instantly delete them, this will add them to the documentstencil and they will be accessible from the “Lines/Line Options/Line Ends” Menu.Pakedge StencilsA set of router and CCTV stencils for Pakedge.
