The Parables of JesusThe Rich Man and LazarusWhen some of the Pharisees were making fun of Jesus, Heresponded by telling them this parable.There was a rich man who wore expensive clothing and feastedevery day. At his gate was a poor hungry man named Lazaruswho was covered with sores and hoped to eat bits of food thatmight fall from the rich man’s table.The poor man died and was carry to heaven by angels; the richman died also and was buried. And while the rich man was inHades, the place of the dead, he saw Lazarus with Abraham andhe called out, “Father Abraham, send Lazarus to bring me waterfor I am in great pain in this fire.”But Abraham answer him, “Remember, my son, in your lifetimeyou were given good things, while Lazarus had nothing, but nowhe is enjoying himself here.
