INTRODUCTIONBut know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: theLORD will hear when I call unto him.--Psalm 4:3Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the greatGod and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he mightredeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. --Titus 2:13-14But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, apeculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hathcalled you out of darkness into his marvelous light: --1Peter 2:9Prayer should be contagious and something you would want to catch.Sometimes it is caught and taught by example from anointed men andwomen of God. The ideal way to catch the desire to pray is by acceptingJesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and being filled with His HolySpirit. Our teacher and helper for prayer and living a redeemed life isthrough the Holy Spirit. When you yield to the enabling assistance of theSpirit you will want to commune and fellowship with God frequently. TheSpirit helps us approach God with sincerity and humility.Prayer is your access to the holy place, the presence of God--His glory, and for receiving revelation or the answer for your concerns. Developing agreater prayer life means you want to take hold of God. You want to knowabout Him, who He is, what He does, what He wants. You also find outwho you are, why you are here, and what you can have. Prayer is yourspiritual sustenance and helps you learn to yield and abide in Christ so youcan become like Him.As you pray you will experience the manifestation of kingdomalternatives to your circumstances. I heard someone say that prayers neverdie but live on before God until answered. If you want to communicatewith God and gain a personal relationship with Him, you need to pray.Prayer is sharing your heart and mind about a matter with Him. God wantsto hear from you even though He already knows what your needs are.Prayer is seeking His presence just to be in His presence. It isn't necessaryto want or need anything material to commune and fellowship with Him.When you place God first in your life through daily prayer, you areintroduced to a wealth of his promises. You can rest assured that He isyour source. He deepens His relationship with you and causes you to seesigns of change and your spiritual growth. You will find that you have

greater peace and power to overcome obstacles and challenges. You willexperience abundant living and provision. A deeper relationship throughprayer reveals that God is truly omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient.Prayer makes you ready to receive His compassion, love, faithfulness, goodness, and strength. You will find an increase of His presence andglory in your environment. You will see His guidance and direction foryour life and relationships. The scriptures say that you will reap what yousow. If you sow the seeds of prayer in the atmosphere, you will reap aharvest of blessing. That blessing includes, provision, protection, healing, and deliverance for every facet of your life.Trials and struggles will try to make you put your faith in your flesh. But the word of God is alive and resurrects your hope and trust in Hisability even in the midst of adversity. Prayer keeps us under the teachingand help of the Holy Spirit and trains us to hear the voice of God. Whenyou are committed to prayer it shows that you have made God yoursource. Your desire for God to be first in your life is cultivated daily bydeveloping an intimate relationship with him. Intimacy is closing the doorto everyone and everything else to be with Him, being hungry for hispresence. Your attention is diverted from your circumstances to focus onGod.Intimacy through prayer moves God and brings His presence into yoursituations. You will know your position and who you are in the kingdom. You will know your kingdom rights and access. You will know thesignificance of reverencing the Lord, loving Him with all of your heart, mind and strength, obeying His word, walking in His ways and servingHim with joy and gladness. He wants to hear from us everyday. Whenever you express your heartand mind to Him, He helps you overcome impossible situations. There isno substitute for a personal, intimate prayer life. You can talk to God inyour own words, in your own way. But praying the scriptures helps youexperience a greater manifestation of blessing in your life. Declaring thepower and authority of the scriptures takes hold of your inheritance. Youbegin to learn, know and embrace faith-building, faith-sustaining truthsabout any circumstance. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. --James 1:4The scripture-based prayers in this book are not your only means ofcommuning with or praying to God. The bible should be your firstresource. You can resort to this or any scripturally-sound prayerbook to

use as a tool or reference for developing or enhancing your personalprayer life. The prayers address particular circumstances in your life.Thoughtless repetitions and requests for blessing that are not heartfelt isnot intimacy. Remember, you have direct access to the King of Gloryyourself when you come before Him with a pure and sincere heart. Socome before Him with love, thanksgiving, praise, humility, desire andpassion. Come before Him wanting to read and meditate on the scripture,or talk to Him. And come before Him in silence, ready to listen to what Hewants to reveal to you.The benefit of prayer is you will receive His covenant blessings and itwill be well with you. You will see the manifestation of the glory of theLord in your flesh. You will look like Him, act like Him, talk like Him, belike Him. In other words, God conforms you to the image and likeness ofHis Son Jesus Christ. We become like Him and we can behold his glory. --2Corinthians 3:18Make God first in your life through daily prayer, and experiencespiritual and physical growth. Walk in greater faith as you are introducedto His wealth of promises. God will give you a greater assurance that He isyour source and you are His son /daughter.
