Close attention is necessary when usedby or near children.Store the machine indoors. Put the machine away after use to preventtripping accidents, with the cord coiled safely.18Turn off all controls before unplugging.19Take extra care when cleaning on stairs; always work with the machineat the bottom of the stairs. Do not put on chairs, tables etc, keep onthe floor.20Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes,matches, or hot ashes.21Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such asgasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.22When vacuuming, certain carpets may generate small static charges inthe clear bin or wand. These are not associated with the electricitysupply. To minimize any effect from this, do not put your hand or insertany object into the clear bin unless you have first emptied it and rinsedit out with cold water.4You are responsible for making sure that your vacuum cleaner is notused by anyone unable to operate it properly.5Use only as described in this manual. Use only with Dyson recommendedor approved attachments and accessories.6Check to ensure your electricity supply corresponds to that shown on therating plate, which can be found on the base of the machine betweenthe wheels. The machine must only be used as rated.7Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the machine is not functioningproperly, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or immersed inliquid, contact the Dyson Helpline on 1- 866 - 693 - 9766.8Do not pull or carry by the cord, do not use the cord as a handle, donot close a door on the cord or pull the cord around sharp edges orcorners. Do not run the machine over the cord. Keep the cord awayfrom heated surfaces and open flames.9Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. This plugwill fit in a polarized outlet onlyone way. If the plug does not fitfully in the outlet, reverse the plug.If it still does not fit, contact aqualified electrician to install theproper outlet. Do not force theplug into the outlet. Do not alterthe plug in any way.CAUTION Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers,and all parts of the body awayfrom openings and moving parts.Please note: The machine is intended fordomestic use only. Fine dust such as plaster dust orflour should only be vacuumedin small amounts.Using your DC11Extend the cable fully up to the redtape. Press the on/off button to startor stop the machine.To adjust the wand length, presscatch 1 to slide the handle in or out.Extend wand fully before use.TMEmpty the clear bins as soon aseither one reaches the max mark(see page 9).The floor tools fit into the end of thewand, the wand handle or the hose.5

Failure to do so couldresult in electric shock orpersonal injury.Wash filter at least every 6 months.When vacuuming fine dust, the filtermay require more frequent washing.Press catch 1 to release cyclone pack.Lift the plastic filter case out of themachine.Separate the foam layer and filtercase and shake both over thedustbin.Wash the filter and case in coldwater only.CAUTION Rinse in cold water only. Do not use detergent. Do not put in a washingmachine or dishwasher.11

Clearing blockages is notcovered by your machine’slimited warranty.ACBlockagesCheck A and B to ensure nothingis obstructing the ducts.CAUTION Don’t use sharp objects whenclearing blockages.Check the accessory tools.Check C where the hose joins themachine.CAUTION Make sure all parts have beenreplaced securely before usingyour machine.13
